West Gerinish--how often is testing?

Title: West Gerinish--how often is testing?

Discussion: I've been browsing for self-catering for when we visit in the spring and one of them is on Loch Bee. I did a search on the area and came across the info on the military testing. It says the beaches are closed during that time and what I'm wondering is how often this happens and how much in advance are you notified?

I'd like to be near Loch Bee for the ease of putting our canoe in the water easily right from the house. However, if this means we might not have beach access and will have to drive for miles to go for a beach walk, then I'd prefer another location. Access to sandy beaches in my priority but easy canoeing is important as well.

Thanks.

Thanks, Tom. My concern is that this will happen while we are there and cut off our access to the nearest beaches. I'd like to book a self catering quite soon and I know the warnings aren't that far in advance.

Hi Annie
I don't think you have too much to worry about reference Range activity as they are very good at notifying the local population when any testing is due to take place. The link below should give you a bit more information:

Hope this helps to allay some of your concerns.
